The annual .LRN Global Conference will be held in Madrid 10-11 May. It will be hosted by Telefonica I+D, the research arm of the biggest Telco in Spain and Latin America.

The conference will consist of two overlapping workshops:

  • The .LRN Users' Group Meeting will take place on March 9th and 10th. The agenda includes user and technical talks, breakout sessions for in depth exploration of topics, and a Gala Flamenco dinner. Event registration information is here.

  • The second event. Foro hispano de .LRN y software libre educativo, will take place on March 10th and 11th. The agenda provides multiple perspectives on .LRN implementation and, more generally, open source educational software for a Spanish speaking audience. Event registration information is here.

Galileo University announces the release of the E-LANE Project distribution, which is based in the last stable release of the .LRN platform (dotlrn-2.1.1).

The E-LANE distribution is a superset of .LRN: it contains ".LRN-certified" components as well as preview releases of the following packages:

  • Learning Objects Managment System (LORS)
  • Assessment
  • Evaluation
  • User Tracking
  • Photo Album
  • Random Photo
  • Weblogger
  • Wimpy Point

The E-LANE Partners are also currently working on:

  • Windows Installer for dotlrn-2.1.1 and e-lane.
  • Debian Package for dotlrn-2.1.1 and e-lane.
  • Knoppix CDs for e-lane.
  • Changes on the LORS package.
  • Assessment package.
  • New features regarding the Bug Tracker and the autosubmition of bugs into it.
